Quick question for the people that have a Microserver setup how noisy are they? Would one be ok running under a desk or in a bedroom?

Mine runs in a bedroom under a desk and it's pretty quiet, not silent, but I don't notice it.

Single 120mm fan is the only moving part besides any installed HDDs. It spins fast on boot but then slows right down - if you're normally OK sleeping with a PC in the room it should be fine.
Hi, PSU has a little fan by the looks, at least on mine.
Can't really comment much on noise, not run it much yet.
Cheers BOB
Silent PC Review did a review on the HP MicroServer with the subject of noise in mind, link.
My HP MS is right next to my bed under my desk, while I can hear it when I'm going to bed I don't find it obtrusive, even with the two WD Green 1.5TB and Seagate LP 2GB hard drives seeking.
Cheers guys
If it's placed on a solid surface like wood, the resonance from the HDDs would get annoying. Otherwise, it's not noisy and I could probably sleep in the same room as it, but it depends what HDDs are used.
I have a MicroServer with four 2TB Ultrastars underneath a staircase, placed on a wooden shelf. I can hear the seek noise and resonating drives as soon as I walk through the front door. They're in a RAID 5 which probably doesn't help with the seek noise.
Get some soft silicone feet or try putting it on a few spare mouse mats (or cut one up to put under the feet) to dampen the vibrations.
Depends which model psu you get. Apparently the later ones are louder. I ended up using a pico psu in mine, psu fan was whiney.
