Test Bench System - Equipments? Need Help... uhhggh! Sinking..

I'm going back soon to my parents soon...

And I'm so sick of carrying my 12kg system everywhere with me.. Not to mention my A400GT..

going to set up some sort of temporary system at my parent's place..

I'm thinking of running my system like those test bench where the motherboard sits out wide open. But I've been looking around for a motherboard tray to sale but can't seem to find any.. (More pressing question, can u even BUY a motherboard tray?) Also, how would u jump start ur system without a power button? Lots of questions.. waiting for these simple ones to be answered b4 I throw the rest at u guys.. ehehehe

    Thanks millions!

Jump start with a screwdriver over the power button pins, or make your own cable. as far as a motherboard tray, cheap case + jigsaw ftw, ou could even rip the switch out and use that. AS far as mounting methods, theres that lubic stuff.

TBH though, i think its probably less hassle to carry your pc back than take it to bits, pack it away nicely and then put it back together again.

Now here's the pressing part.. my parents live exactly on the other side of the globe (Down.. DOWN under).. I had to apply for a special permit for me to carry my system over as hand luggage. And TBH, they are a pain to carry.. Breaking them up to pieces would be much easier for me to stuff them into my luggage.

I don't need anything fancy.. just a simple motherboard tray would be fine.. I will be there for a month+ while writing up my work with my mrs... Those lubic stuff.. where do u get them?

Can u actually buy seperate power switches? that would be much simpler..

Any momentary switch will do, youd just have to find the right connectors, tbh a screwdriver/paperclip/bit of metal is just as easy. A cheap case will cost what a tenner delivered from ebuyer? A jigsaw maybe another tenner to rent for the day if you dont have one. Or, you could just buy a cheap case over there, whats the australian equivalent of <insert whatever your favourite etailer is>?

Kustom sell acrylic trays (I'm sure that they used to sell alu slide out 1's seperately once upon a time)
    http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1341.html

Some mobos (e.g. DFIs) have a switch on the board itself to allow for out of case testing.

why exactly do you need a tray? can you not just stick the motherboard on a antistatic mat?
and as for switches, it really is very easy to just touch the conenctors with a kife or screwdriver or whatever
