    Re: I took a Gamble

30 day warranty is the only downside... im extremely tempted just to simply use it as my "games" drive! Only the 64gb one though, wouldnt take the risk with ~£100 on the higher capacity ones.

or do you take the risk... £5 quidco so thats already £87 for the 128gb.... god damn it stop tempting me! Stupid better write speeds with higher density :*(.

    Re: I took a Gamble

I'm sorely tempted on the 64GB... 7% quidco so £42.85 all in...can I really say no to that even with the warranty issue?

    Re: I took a Gamble

i ordered the 128gb in the end, steam was 80GB so thought may as well . NAND doesnt die often so these refurbs should be solid, it would simply be a fixed controller or something.. possibly just old stock .

No quidco yet though... couldnt find the way to navigate to the promo page if im honest though , might put claim in if i can be bothered.

    Re: I took a Gamble

I think i would rather spend extra for the 3 year warrenty. 30 days just isnt enough.

Tempted to upgrade my 60gb vertex 2 to a force 3 120gb as im also upgrading to a motherboard with sata 6 on it.

You mean £43?? The Crucial drive was £87 for a larger 128GB drive. If you already have a 60GB Vertex 2 there is no real point in changing it yet. Wait another year and you might end up with a larger and faster drive for the same price as the Force 3.

The Force 3 uses asynchronous NAND which means it is slower with uncompressable data like images, video and music. However, the main issue is that when you enable TRIM and/or have the drive starting to fill up with data performance of the drives with asynchronous NAND starts to drop off.

    Re: I took a Gamble

i am doing my very best to ignore the poop that is sandforce, i swear they are so over rated and my corsair f60 isn't that great either tbh, its ok thats all though... Its a big gamble but i was gunna buy a hp tablet so may as well take a gamble with this instead .

C300 seems to be alot more reliable and stable compared to sandforce, £87 for the 128 c300 is good really... the f3 is almost 50% more expensive, couldnt drop that on it tbh.

the C300 and future versions are already good enough on read/write speeds really, they needed to bring the price per gb down and i think 79p per gb is good , i just pray that it really is like logitech where they sell blemished goods but you actually get a brand new unit no marks at all, just the box is out dated lol.

To late to cancel now anyways, already shipped rofl. Will let you know how reliable it is!.

Not really, without killing it by writing too it with incompressible data 24/7.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Yeah, all those additional write cycles can't be good.

I'd love to see the SMART data from these. I wonder if the NAND chips have actually been used at all?
