    Makeshift PA system

    I have a question I was hoping the fine fellows of Hexus could help me out with;

    Background: I have been tasked with hiring a room for a lecture, but the venue charges £175 for a microphone and PA system, which I assume means mic -> amp -> speakers. This seemed rather steep, so would the below setup work as a substitute?

    Solution (?): wireless mic to receiver (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TWIN-Wirel...item5adb7dce6a) -> 6.35mm to 3.5mm adaptor (http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tv...cket-gold.html) -> Corsair SP2500 speakers (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsa...red-controller). Or would there need to be a laptop in between the jack adaptor and the speakers? Or would it not work at all?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Makeshift PA system

    If it's important, hire the venue system - home brew, especially wireless, is asking for trouble and will probably sound awful.

    If it's not important and there's no accessibility requirement then make sure people sit near the front and throw your voice.
