GRaphics Card for HP Proliant MicroServer N36L
Hi
I wonder if anyone as turned a HP Proliant MicroServer N36L into a Home PC?
I'm thinking of doing so and would appreciate any advice on:
1) Low Profile Graphics Card
2) Low Profile Sound Card
Thanks

An HD5450 or HD6450 DDR3. The HD5450 consumes slightly less power than an HD6450.
I would use a USB soundcard.

The GT520 consumes significantly more power than an HD5450:

SPCR considers the HD5450 the most energy efficient graphics card they have tested:

With the 200W PSU in the HP Proliant MicroServer and the very limited cooling I would be looking at the HD5450. It will produce less heat than a GT520.

At £120 (after cashback) for the box (I already have one to donate 1gb RAM and a 250gb HDD) it should be quite a cheap PC :-)

Do you have any opinion on the benefits of running off a SSD from the main OS and boot? The price of 3.5" ones seems to be £100....

An SSD consumes less power and produces less heat than a hard disk. It also much quicker in most cases and the computer tends to feel more responsive.
You can always get 2.5" to 3.5" adaptors for the SSDs.

This 16gb looks fast and cheapish....Read 230MB/s Write 75MB/s @ £48
But this one is slightly bigger 30gb and slightly slower :-) @ £60
And this 60gb @ £67
It's all a bit confusing :-)

I saw on a different site someone using a 5450 with HDMI to get sound and graphics off the one card. But it depends if you have a HDMI input display.
