wireless optical mouse & Keyboard suggestions

    Hello all,

After my recent case upgrade, and my upcoming hardware/case upgrade I'm looking to replace my keyboards and mice on both systems.

I've had a look on some of the standard funky modding website like overclockers and kustompcs but nothing quite fits, although there are some more than acceptable kit out there.

Here are my wants / needs, give me some recommendations

    1.) My Linux desktop

the case is silver, and monitors are black and silver so either plain black or black and silver mouse and keyboard would be the choice.
the mouse and keyboard must be wireless, and not Bluetooth wireless as bluetooth under linux is a pain for input devices.

must have as minimal or non propritory buttons on there that require windows drivers as it is just pointless having an "MS web wheel" when its not supported under linux. it CAN have these features if the keyboard is worth it, or they are supported, but I'd just rarther not have a load of buttons I can't use.

I'd like the keyboard to be as cool looking as possible

2.) My new windows PC being built

The case is black - all black, with green effects.

the keyboard must be as all black as possible, as must the mouse
both. Both must be wireless and the mouse must be optical.
As may usefull functions as possible, I'm open to blue tooth keyboards for the windows machine, but again I'd rarther not unless the keyboard is mega !

give me some options, and shops,

So far the best I've seen is

Logitech Cordless Desktop MX - Retail (KB-007-LG)

    thanks,

    Matt.

My favourites are the logitech cordless desktop MX (awesome) and the Microsoft wireless optical desktop (OEM) (around £36 from OCUK)...excellent for the money.

    /\ I agree
The Wireless desktop (with optical mouse) by Microsoft is pretty top notch and for £36 you can't really go wrong. It mainly black but the keyboard has silver strip along the top. The mouse also has a blue base and silver top.
Mircrosoft also do a Bluetooth desktop set set (with optical mouse) completley in blue (very dark blue, sorta navy blue) at overclock.co.uk but at £93, it kinda makes you wonder is bluetooth really worth almost £50 extra. No idea really for a Linux desktop set.

    Dinovo is insanely expensive.

Have a look at the MS Wireless Desktop Elite. About £60, so in between the MS wireless optical desktop and the bluetooth variant. In the end I didnt go for bluetooth because it didnt seem to have any real advantages (apart from being the latest thing) and apparently it drinks batteries.

Ebuyer and dabs tend to stock most decent keyboards.
