Can't cut these bridges!
I've decide to attack my Athlon 850 today - cut all the muptiplier bridges seeing as though this mobo can't alter multi's.
I'm here with me dremel and some nice fine tipped bits - but the thing will not cut!
Any suggestions... I know from past experience that etching fluid won't work...
Cheers,
Kez.

Will the 9V battery trick not work?
-
What's that - burning the bridges out by overvolting them?
-
Yep, not tried it myself but some people say it is the easiest way
-
I don't appear to be able to get it to work... :(
-
ah well. apparently it is supposed to make a quite satisfying pop noise if you succeed.
-
Yes, it works now!
Just changed the mult to 9 - now I know this thing can do a gig from fsb mods to I'll set the mult to 10 now...
Cheers GreenPiggy!

What happened to it? did it properly blow up or was it a disappointing little fzzzt noise
-
Does it really work with the 9v battery trick? Ive never heard of it before.
-
Yes Kez, we need to know :shocked2:
-
OK, the first time it didn't work because the battery was a dud.
However, I found a good battery and stuck some wires on it. I then removed loads of threads from the other end of the wire to leave me with a nice accurate, single strand. I touched one wire to one end the bridge, the other at the other side, and there was a little spark, a hint of smoke, and shazam it was just like it had been cut by a laser!
edit: Oh and it's at 100x10 now - rock solid by the looks - downloading Sandra to confirm.
Well I must have either nackered one of the bridge mods or found the limit - becuase 10.5 mult doesn't work. I can't be bothered to set it all up again - so I'll stick with 102x10 (1020mhz) providing it's stable.

Excellent, All i need now is a cheapy chip to experiment on.

-
is this the same way you do a barton??
-
Dunno, the thunderbirds didn't have the third contact under the bridges, and they have a much hardware substrate.
-
what do you want to do to your Barton?
