Plugging 2 devices to one set of speakers?
I have a 5.1 surround sound system in my room, i wanna plug my PS3 and my PC to it at the same time so that when i play my PS3 i can just switch it to output the audio from the PS3 and switch it back when i use the computer. Is there something cheap that i can use to do so?
Re: Plugging 2 devices to one set of speakers?
what kind of connection are you using?
Doesn't the surround set have multiple inputs? you could have used a different connection for each input and just switch between them with that.

Well it's got Aux input, and 3.5 audio jack
i'm trying to find and audio jack splitter/switch where you have two inputs to the same jack

OK, lets go back to the start. What surround system do you have? i can't believe you would just have a 3.5mm jack and an AUX input.
If you want to get to devices onto a 3.5mm jack input all you need is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Speake.../dp/B0007OC96W
For the AUX, assuming it is twin phono connectors, you need is a couple of these: http://incarmusic.co.uk/product/2054...-Splitter-Lead
But I can't help thinkthing there is a better way of doing this, like having the two on seperate inputs and just using the surround system to stitch between them. Are there no optical or digital inputs you can use? with AUX and a single 3.5mm jack you won't be getting surround anyway.

It's cheapo system i got from currys on sale for £25
but i found a solution.
I plugged the computer via the 3.5 jack, and i plugged in the PS3 using it's the AV cable, so i plugged the red and white ones to the Aux input of the set and it WORKED!!!!
This is all just temporary though, till i get a proper surround system with the sub

Yeah that's what I would have done from the start to be honest.
You had two devices and two inputs, that seems to be the most logical way to wire it up.
