Just a quick question, if I have a P4 800MHz and i put some 400MHz DDR RAM with it, does that give best performance (won't be o/cing) because doesn't it transmitt twice per cycle?
Cheers

someone will correct me if im wrong but...
800mhz P4's are quad pumped so its basically 200x4. I *think* you just need some PC3200 Ram (DDR400) if your not overclocking and that will do fine.
HEXUS|iMc
iMC is right...PC4000 is 233fsb or something....It'ld be good for overclocking but if you are not overclocking then PC3200 (200fsb) will be good, as you can run it in sync with the processor and get full use from it.
Again, as iMC says P4's are quad pumped, so 200fsbx4 = 800fsb.

blockers - PC4000 is 500MHz DDR (4000/8), 250MHz FSB. 3200 is, 400DDR or 200MHz.
And the right thing for a quad-pumped 800MHz P4, 200MHz FSB is PC3200 memory. No overclocking means no need for more, so you'll get along fine with PC3200 DDR modules r1zeek. Just be sure to get atleast 2 modules if your chipset can handle dual DDR, will give you a nice increese in bandwidth and therefor also performance
Light travels faster than sound. Is this why some people appear bright until you hear them speak?
Yeah, i knew about the quad pumped P4, just wondering about the RAM.
Cheers guys
I always get confusedblockers - PC4000 is 500MHz DDR (4000/8), 250MHz FSB. 3200 is, 400DDR or 200MHz.
