    mATX HTPC Cases!

    Hi,

I'm thinking of rebuilding my HTPC but would like to replace the case I have, looking for something more aesthetically pleasing without breaking the bank LOL, so are there any mATX based cases that are less than 35cm in depth? Thats what my AV cabinet will allow!

    I've currently got a Silverstone GD05B.

I've had large cases, but they've been too large for my liking, plus the mATX one keeps all I need at bay, 1 Dual DVB-S2, 1 PCI-E Double Slot GPU (GTX580) and a sound card, so all my needs catered for by mATX!

So any out there, not many I've found at the usual places!

    Thanks!

By depth, do you mean front to back or top to bottom? I assume the former, but if you're running a GTX580 I don't think many cases smaller than 350mm will take it, will they?

I'm going for a SG03-F myself - but not sure if that's the sort of thing you require.

The Lian-LI PC-C37 would be my choice (I have one), I liked it it can take a normal optical drive , always meant to mod to fit a little display go make it perfect.

    Re: mATX HTPC Cases!

I can't think of any mATX cases which can accomodate a GTX580 and a PCIe tuner that are much smaller than the Silverstone Grandia GD04/05. Perhaps the Silverstone Lascala LC04 (or other cases with a similar layout); but this has a smaller power supply which might be a problem for the 580, you'll also have to ditch the tuner card or at least install it somewhere else by means of a PCIe extension.

Folks, my apologies for the late reply, seem to have forgotten about this as its taken a bit of a backburner!

    Anyway, to reply:

    You assume right my friend!

The GTX580 is 10.5" long, so fit my GD04B fine albeit with very little space left, less than 1/2", but I think its quite short, the case I mean, it sits at 323mm deep IIRC, so when I put the thread up, I thought a bit more space would work!

LOL my friend, my browsing rig is installed in one of those GEMS, for my HTPC I'd stick to something more horizontal if you know what I mean.

Lian-Li have some nice cases but that PC-C37 wouldn't take my GTX580 for a start as its LOW PROFILE from looking at the specs!

Like you say, I'd prefer to stick to components I can hand-pick to put into my HTPC case and not be restricted by it!

Looks like ATM the GD04B will be staying, TBH, I'm not upset about it, thought it would be nice for a change, thats all!

Thanks to you all for replying, appreciated!
