    Dell XPS 15 Value ?

    Hi,

I've got a brand new Dell XPS 15" laptop and I was wondering how much people think it would be worth, I quite fancy a MacBook instead.

    Specs are :

XPS L502x : 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2620M processor 2.70 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.40 GHz

    Display : 15.6" FHD B+RGLED True-Life (1920x1080) with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera

LCD Back Cover : Metalloid Aluminum (WLAN) L501X

    Memory : 8192MB (2x4096) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel

    Hard Drive : 750GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)

Optical Drive : Tray Load Blu-ray Disc BD-Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)

    Battery : Primary 6-cell 56W/HR LI-ION

Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card

TV Tuner : Internal DVB-T TvTuner

    Wireless : Europe Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 (1x2 b/g/n+ Bluetooth Combo Card)

Keyboard : Internal Backlit UK/Irish Qwerty Keyboard

Operating System : English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64 BIT)

and a 3 year next day business warranty.

any estimates on what I may get for it on here/ebay would be appreciated!

    thanks

why would you want to trade for a Mac unless you're doing a lot of media applications a la photoshop, final cut etc.? i'm pretty sure most mac books are similar or worse specs and about triple the price

software aside, the only benefit with the mac would be longer battery life and better build quality - aluminium chassis hmmmmmmmmmm

How do you find the build quality + keyboard on the XPS?

looking at getting one but some of the dells in the local dixons/pc world have really flimsy keyboards that bow when you push a key.

oh, and price new for that kind of spec would be about £850-900 so 2nd hand, loss of warranty, etc I'd prob aim for £750

I wish you'd posted this a few days ago. My daughter has just bought a laptop the day before yesterday but she would definitely have been interested in buying yours.

I have an i5 dell xps laptop. in fact i write this on it right now. The xps build quality is a massive step up from the standard dells. if you ask me very similar to macbooks in some ways. Brushed aluminium casing and a nice solid keyboard. Also the onboard JBL branded speakers back a decent punch for a laptop
