While I was in the States i picked up one of these Its a wireless network detector, so i just press a button and it scans for both 802.11b and 802.11g networks. Is much easier than constantly having to open up the laptop.

In practice snooping on wireless isn't totally easy. Much depends on how their PC's and the network itself are set up.
