Re: Spec me my first ever WC kit

Looking at the drive cage http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upl...0/a7010f06.jpg it looks like the inner fan frame is screwed in, but the cage itself is riveted in.
Probably 4 rivets, through the bottom of the cage and into the bottom panel, you'd have to drill them out, which is not hard to do.

On multiple radiators on a loop, yes it can be done but from my understanding there's a couple of things to be aware of.
Pump/pressure, to push water around multiple water blocks and radiators as they act as restrictions in the flow, too many choke point and you start putting strain on the pump.
Overall efficiency, what happens when you stress the cpu but not the gpu? or gpu but not cpu? it's minor but something to think about.

EDIT: PS your shopping cart link doesn't work for other people

yes, get a fan controller as well, it will tickover on idle when not in use to stay nice and quiet!

koolandce to a usb controller card that runs fans and pumps, i love it!

    koolandce ?

Anyways i think as this is my first WC setup i will keep it relatively simple and just use one 120.3 rad to cool the whole lot

    cheers

one 360mm rad would be plenty depending on the actual rad . As far as i remember, the fan brackets are screwed in, the actual drives im struggling to remember lol! Either rivets or screws, was easy to take out but i can find out for you tonight if you want. I remounted my drive rack by drilling new holes and screwing it down.

Re: Spec me my first ever WC kit

In theory if you want to put both gpu and cpu into one loop then you should have a 2nd rad between them, otherwise you'll be feeding warm water from one into the other.
How much of an effect it will have will vary depending on multiple factors but all told I think you should be able to get away without one.

It's standard practise to link two card directly together in water cooled multi-card setups, the 2nd card will run hotter but not by any great amount so you should be fine.

Re: Spec me my first ever WC kit

as pop just mentioned, there is that to think of IF you can, however there is no need to fuss over it as the water would soon reach an equilibrium after being pumped around, there is hardly any temperature differences between it... maybe 2-3C tops!.

The rx360 is fine in the top, have mine in there currently and it hasnt gone anywhere . Ill get some good photos tonight for you as the case is VERY similar, ill try and dig up an old thread where i modded the top panel.

I take it you didn't read through my Kali thread then I have a 360 rad in the top of a *very* cheap case - and screwing the rad in has actually made the case more stable! It's basically acting as a cross brace You certainly shouldn't have any issues with your Lian Li.

Re: Spec me my first ever WC kit

Ill add on gonz0s post, if you can budget it in then 99% of koolance stuff is better than the rest and just looks awesome .

However if you are like me with little cash and just in general a cheap skate, i recommend getting this:
    http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...pid-12367.html
the lamptron fc5v2 is a decent fan controller, looks nice and has been handling my 2x ddc pumps flawlessly, (on seperate channels and it powers the rest of my system fans on the other 2 channels). With 30w per channel it will not have ANY problems with the laing ddc pumps (18w is fine for example), ive been running mine for almost a year and its showing no signs of ageing and its been involved in a good few spills aswell .

Heres me modding the top panel http://www.specialtechforums.co.uk/v...Lian-Li-PC-A70
    installing gpu block
    http://www.specialtechforums.co.uk/v...e-HF-Installed!
some random thread about me moving the HDD bay and respraying rads and stuff
    http://www.specialtechforums.co.uk/v...that-damn-loop!

I seemed to have forgot to say HOW i took the HDD bay off, from a picture pob linked it looks like screws so im pretty sure its screwed in, if you can lift your case up or something and look underneath it there should be like 4 screws holding it in .

Any questions regarding anything let me know as i still know a fair amount .

(looking at these old threads also made me notice how much flipping thermal paste i put on the gpu! Might try and reseat that are some time down the line but temps are <32C load so it doesnt seem bad .

However if you are like me with little cash and just in general a cheap skate, i recommend getting this:

the lamptron fc5v2 is a decent fan controller, looks nice and has been handling my 2x ddc pumps flawlessly, (on seperate channels and it powers the rest of my system fans on the other 2 channels). With 30w per channel it will not have ANY problems with the laing ddc pumps (18w is fine for example), ive been running mine for almost a year and its showing no signs of ageing and its been involved in a good few spills aswell .

Heres me modding the top panel http://www.specialtechforums.co.uk/v...Lian-Li-PC-A70
    installing gpu block

some random thread about me moving the HDD bay and respraying rads and stuff
    http://www.specialtechforums.co.uk/v...that-damn-loop!

Sweet Mod made mate. nice work. Why did u add Glue to your rad LOL. Also, Are you suppose to put the kill silver coil INSIDE the tube ? i thought its meant to be wraped around it? Or put inside the reserviour?

i found my dremel. just need to buy new blades for it. Any will do innit? Also, will dig up the jigsaw and get cutting!

Re: Spec me my first ever WC kit

Where did i add glue, im curious now as i never had glue at my disposable... all i had was 3M tape and waterproof tape lol .

I believe silver coils go in the tubing, i personally prefer a liquid biocide as its more cost effective and hasnt let me down yet... (mayhems biocide is good, petra biocide is ok but id go with mayhems really).

Look for a blade for aluminium, makes it a lot easier but for the dremel i just used a generic to cut small bits off.

stick it in a spare drive bay, hook up the usb to a header, install the software... connect pumps and fans to the card and control them.

    if in doubt rtfm
