New build powering up but not booting - displays black screen :(

Ok just finished my new build and borrowed a monitor to test it on, unfortunately I picked up the wrong monitor of my mates and it's only a VGA model. Since I'm using a 560 Ti Twin Frozr II it only has HDMI and DVI outputs, so I thought I'd run it through HDMI. However...the PC powers up, all the fans kick and all I get is a black screen
The TV recognises the PC is there as it picks up there is a live HDMI connection but I get nothing. Is this a problem with the HDMI itself or could there be a hardware fault? I have checked and re-checked and can see nothing wrong!? Can anyone suggest if there is anything obvious I might be looking out for?

Did the card not come with a VGA to DVI connector? When I bought by last card (7600GT, but just bought a 6950 and will use the same connectors for it) it came with 2 VGA to DVI connectors and I just plugged my VGA monitor into one of them and booted first time. It could be a fault with the HDMI cable, so would be worth trying it through one of the other connection options.

Don't worry, we've all done silly things like that. Even CAT forgot to plug his CPU fan in the other day and ran his i3 2100 passively cooled on the stock heatsink for over 24 hrs . Personally I always forget to plug the PCI-e power into my gpu.
