I have plugged the aftermarket fan into the 3 pin header (sys_fan1) on my motherboard (gigabyte z68xp-ud3) and yet it stays on at full speed whenever it is powered up. The original case fan is plugged into the 4 pin fan header on the motherboard (it is a 3 pin fan, I just left out the reserve pin on the mobo) and that is controlled perfectly, varying speed with the temperature of the system.
I'm not sure why this has happened; I thought that plugging fans into the mobo means they have their speed controlled. Is there any setting I need to adjust in the BIOS or control panel, or maybe a piece of software I can download which will allow me to control the speed of the fans?
Thanks,
Adam
