    2.0 computer speakers

I'd like some speakers for my soon-to-be-decided-on desktop build. I like the idea of 2.0 speakers, i.e. no subwoofer, because it's less to find room for and I don't need room-shaking bass. For music and TV more than games.

I like the look of the Creative T20 speakers (see this review on trustedreviews) from the description. Moderate-to-good quality and un-gimmicky.

Does any have any experience with them, or any other ~£50 2.0 speakers? Am I being foolish limiting myself to 2.0, or limiting myself to computer speakers?

    Re: 2.0 computer speakers

I've been quite interested in this myself for a while as I could do with some speakers without a sub around my feet somewhere, but still haven't got around to getting anything (using a headset).

I think I came to the same conclusion that the T20s looked good.

M-Audio AV30s also look very good, but a bit on the large side, slightly more expensive and power switch on the back.

    Re: 2.0 computer speakers

I've got some T40s, which replaced my old Logitech T5900 5.1 system. Have to say, I don't miss it at all.

Since I was getting rid of the subwoofer, I decided to go for slightly bigger speakers to compensate, although I'm not sure how much difference that actually makes over the T20s. Nonetheless, considering the price, I'm very happy with them.

    Re: 2.0 computer speakers

I have been using the T20 Speakers and can recommend them, mine are the first version.

They have plenty of power and are a good solid sound.

The only small points I will make is that mine had an annoyingly bright blue LED power light, which i easily fixed with a tiny piece of paper over the LED.

They do have small size foot print which can be great if space is limited, but the cat has knocked them over a few times but they have survived well

    Re: 2.0 computer speakers

For the price T20's are very good, mate of mine had some and the sound from them, considering the cone size, was VERY good, had i needed something as good on my pc, i use headphones when gaming and only low volume music over speaks at other times so a good set of speakers is unnecessary, i would definately consider them myself.

mac124, that's a good point. I guess I'm not planning to have music at high volume.

Is there anything cheaper that's good quality for lower volume levels?

Do you get the annoying hum when the they are powered on but not active....like the static noise from the transformer?

I did with the first set, sent them back to Amazon and got a replacement that didn't.

Another vote for the T20s here. I've got a pair of the 1st iteration, and the sound quality surprised me. They're powerful enough to play music on whilst faffing around upstairs too. And possibly to annoy the neighbours...
