DVD-R, DVD+R... eh?
Got given a DVD burner for me birthday, its burns both types of DVD, but what's the difference?
Is one better than the other?
Or is it just two different, competing standards with nothing to choose between them?
Now I gotta go buy a stack of DVD's to burn, so which should I get?
-
+ is generally better and more compatible aparently.
I bought two boxes of DVDs with my writer; one set of -R and one set of +R's. We shall soon see which pwns which. Lol.
-
I have found -R's to be cheaper and looking at the coverage I'd say -R's are winning in Europe and +R's winning in US ... at least it's not like a betamax/VHS thing ... almost all new drives support both.
-
I generally use - as the disks are cheaper.
-
what burner did you get? I got a lite-on one and it seems to respond better with DVD+R rather than the -R ones
-
+ are better, - are cheaper.
My PS2 will play + and - discs.
My Pioneer standalone DVD player will play + and - discs.
My Toshiba DVD-ROM drive will only play + discs.
YMMV though.

My writer is in my sig, im gonig to get some + disks to see how they fare.
