    Worth upgrading mobo + ram?

    Hi all,

    Currently running

    xp 2800 stock
coolermaster HC001 copper based h/s (temps idle, 33°C load <45°C)
    MSI KT4 ultra FISR mobo
1 512 pc2700 (nanya, I think this has winbond chips) Maybe ram is the issue?
    9700 pro o/c 360/330 (3dmark2003 =5209)
    Tagan 480w PSU

Tried overclocking the chips fsb but it looks like the board won't take anything past 170mhz (3dmark2003 locks up). I think agp is not locked.

I have read reviews which have got this upto 175-180. I know not much compared with 200fsb that others are getting.

I'm looking to go to raid at some point soon, which this mobo supports.

    My question is;

Is it worth upgrading mobo and ram (and heatsink) to something that will hit 200fsb+ with 512 dual channel ram or should I keep my money and wait for 64bit/pci-express/ddr3/x800xt etc?

    (Mainly a gamer btw)

    TIA

I would say that you should wait and see how Socket 939 pans out, along with PCI-Express etc.

I would definitely wait. Your rig is half decent, but there isn't a real need to upgrade NOW is there? Only you can really answer that, depending on what you want to do/play. I would wait to see how the prices go on the althon64s

ye dont bother with a new 32bit board, next time u upgrade add a 64bit cpu to the list. Your rig as said above is fine, with a 9700pro in it i cant see u havin much slow down in almost every game out thats not "the way its *not* meant to be played" :@

you can't overclock mainly i think because of your mobo. If you really want an extra performance from o/cing then just a different mobo, NF2 preferably. If you are happy with you set up then you could wait.

But it's still going to take a while for pci-express/ddr2/939 etc to be affordable even after its release.
