Over the last few months I started to notice a lot of discussion about mechanical keyboards. Initially I didn't know what they were but after some reading it began to make sense.
But they cost how much? For a keyboard?!
Basically today I realised that my venerable Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard is long past it's best. It only cost something like £20 about 7 years ago so I can hardly complain, and now I'm thinking I should take this opportunity to look into the latest craze amongst us tech-heads.
This has all been brought on by having a new keyboard delivered in work, it's nothing fancy - a Lenovo something or other, but it's very nice to type on and by contrast my home keyboard feels very 'squidgy' if that makes sense, now I know the Lenovo will go like this over time due to the rubber domes but it feels great now. The question is will a mechanical keyboard provide this lovely feel for its usable life, or is this just the feel of a new keyboard which will ultimately wear off - mechanical or not.
I once read that we spend all day tapping away on a keyboard, stroking a mouse and staring at a screen so these are 3 things you shouldn't skimp on. I'm a strong believer in this.
However......... circa £80 for a cheap mechanical keyboard?
Am I mad for even considering this?
