A good capacitor is not a garranty.
Just a point of interest for people.
About 5 months ago we got some Asus P5G41T-m LX motherboards to replace some older boards that had failed.
One of the pc's they went into had died, opening it up I spotted a pair of bad cap's
finally got around to fitting the replacement today.
out of curriosity I checked the capacitors that had blown
They are Panasonic [M] FJS 6.3V 820UF, which while not solid capacitors are still good quality japanese electrolytic capacitors and yet after less than 5 months they are bulging leaking orange fluid and the motherboard is dead.
Just goes to show no matter how high grade it is you still get failiers.

That's not good at all, especially 2 caps on a single board :(

They are probably not Panasonic caps.
Instead they'll be a el-cheapo chinese clone.

I'm not 100% but I think they are being used in parallel, might be series, the motherboard traces are definitely linking the two together.
My guess they are using two cheaper 6.7v capacitors instead of a single more expensive 12v capacitor.
So when one went all the load ended up on the other which couldn't cope and also died.
They are Panasonic, logo and model numbers match up, unless Asus has been sold a bunch of fake capactiors.
The majority of the electrolytic capacitors on this board are panasonic, 2 are Chemicon (between pci-e slots) and there's 6 small Teapo's connected to the realtek sound chip
Not tracked down the Solids yet.

No manufacture can guarantee 100% of their products will be perfect. Even the best manufacturers are not immune from material or workmanship defects. With the exception of Apple of course.
Not to imply these capacitor failures are common but I've come across bad batches of caps from various high end brands which have failed, sometimes predictably.

I wonder if a power supply that has bad / week capacitors would cause it to put more strain on to the motherboard capacitors ? Its all part of the same circuit in the end. Just a thort.
