When I was working at Curry's I sent people away with their laptops if they were really really dirty said there was no way I was sening it off untill they had gone over it with a duster and some polish as why should the people who were repairing them have to suffer that muck.

How often do you usually do inspection and cleaning, and what's the best way of doing it?
Lian Li reckon positive Air pressure is the way forward (more coming in than going out). After my experience with my 650D which is the other way, i reckon they might be right... this thing gets well dusty

Dust filters will definately help, just remember they will need cleaning aswell

    Re: Ewww - filthy PCs!

Yes it was apple, and they refused to repair it (it was under service contract)/care pack/whatever apple call it) under the grounds that it was an environmental hazard.

How bad it was inside I don't know.

I try not to smoke around my pc as it's really insidious, not only do you get a dirt build up from all that smoke (air born particles) but also the tar (it's not nicotine) makes it sticky which means to clean your heat sinks you need to wash them in warm soapy water, compressed air and paint brush will do nothing.

    Re: Ewww - filthy PCs!

I had a wasps nest in a server once, but these days (cuz Im a lot more choosy who I work for - hobby wise helping out like) the rubbish is on the hard disk - I was used Ccleaner on an oldish machine that had over 6GB (yes six gigs) worth of c**p !
    Cheers, David
