Saw this over at el reg......reminds me of a few oldies I've opened!
yep and don't forget the first one http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11/13/ventblockers/
EDIT: great example of my main issue with the intel stock cooler

Yes all cpu coolers will do that, but the top of the intel stock cooler is rough cut, so fluff sticks and mats faster.
I had one that had spiders living in it!
Worst i have seen is one full of cat hairs etc!! It stunk
my nextdoor neighbour back at my parents PC was really bad. Hes a farmer and when i opened it up it just exploded onto me. Took me ages to clean and then when i did it was completely dead, so frustrating :(
I now refuse to work on minging machines pretty much.
Why do some peoples pcs get so dirty. Seen loads of pics of manky ones on the net!! Disgusting!
I hate looking at my sisters pc as it is in a smokers house and boy does it accumulate ciggy stink!
I don't know what it is but cigarettes leave do an odour.
Isn't it passive smoking just opening up a PC thats been in a smoking environment?
LOL, I once opened up my sisters rig just to make sure she'd been keeping it clean AS I'd showed her!
Edit: Wait a minute, the ones in the link I've just seen, how does anyone manage that?
This is my own pc :D

I blame the Q6600 for being suck a good chip, haven't upgraded in 3 years. I finally cleaned my case out after idle temps were reaching 58 degrees C
New idle temp = 28 :D
I've seen far far worse than those, rusty, skanky, nicotine stained, rodents droppings. When I brought one full of rodent terd my cats went nuts ! I have no pictures, it was too grim for words.
I was indeed talking about a PC, I've never dragged anything home on two legs thats as skanky as that !
I'm in the process of building my first rig in Define R3. As the case comes with dust filters I am wondering if those will be of much help in keeping the inside of the case cleaner??
How often do you usually do inspection and cleaning, and what's the best way of doing it?
I don't think I've ever had any one of my PC 's in a case that long to get that dirty, I think the worse case I had for picing up dust though was my Lian Li PC 7, that was pretty horrendous.
When I was working at Curry's I sent people away with their laptops if they were really really dirty said there was no way I was sening it off untill they had gone over it with a duster and some polish as why should the people who were repairing them have to suffer that muck.
Smokers pc's are the worst though?
Lian Li reckon positive Air pressure is the way forward (more coming in than going out). After my experience with my 650D which is the other way, i reckon they might be right... this thing gets well dusty :(
Dust filters will definately help, just remember they will need cleaning aswell ;)
Yes it was apple, and they refused to repair it (it was under service contract)/care pack/whatever apple call it) under the grounds that it was an environmental hazard.
How bad it was inside I don't know.
I try not to smoke around my pc as it's really insidious, not only do you get a dirt build up from all that smoke (air born particles) but also the tar (it's not nicotine) makes it sticky which means to clean your heat sinks you need to wash them in warm soapy water, compressed air and paint brush will do nothing.
I had a wasps nest in a server once, but these days (cuz Im a lot more choosy who I work for - hobby wise helping out like) the rubbish is on the hard disk - I was used Ccleaner on an oldish machine that had over 6GB (yes six gigs) worth of c**p !
