Blasted TV Out - help please guys

Right for this media PC I'm building I want it to connect straight to my TV only via the SVHS output, without the use of a monitor.

Now when it boots it shows on the TV fine, but once I get into Windows the screen becomes all garbled and out of sync, etc, much like an old monitor would at a res too high for it.

Anyway in the Nvidia control panel it thinks there isn't a TV connected so I can't change any of the options.

    Any ideas guys?

I've tried a few versions of the Nvidia drivers, same prob.

This worked fine when I was on Win98, now I've moved to XP I'm having this problem.

    Thanks

Seems i have a similar problem, but not quite the same.
When i had my GF FX 5600xt *shudders* tv out was fine...
Now on my 9700 pro (although it is a close stretch for the cable) upon boot its black and white, and once windows appears the entire tv out does not work as the tv is left blank. I have tried re-attaching the cable many times to no avail. Ive noticed an option for tv out in the cats but i cant figure it out as its disabled... any suggestions ppl? I dont think my tv out is borked, just kinda borked or else not working but not borked.. does that even make sense? :s

try plugging in a normal monitor as well, booting up then enabling the second monitor. IIRC for nVidia cards to work you need to start up nView, and for ATI there are enable/disable buttons in the
Control panel -> displays -> settings -> advanced -> displays tab

lemme know how you get on

Nope. When I go into the "Device Selection" or whatver it's called in Settings > Advanced, it doesn't detect the frigging television (I've taken a monitor into my bedroom to make it easy to fiddle!!). Whether I connect it by Svideo or Composite.

I don't get it... Why did it work with 98?? IS it something to do with XP not supporting 640x480 resolution or something??
