Pentium M moblie problem. Help me!

I have a Pentium M 1.7 Ghz processor in my laptop. It can handle Far Cry with 2xaa 2xaf med settings no problem.

However. When I ran CPU-Z it recognised the M processor but only clocked it at 0.600 Mhz. Everything else was fine. I take it the core clock is capped at 600 Mhz?

WHen I stuck on the Joint Operations Demo it gave me a warning saying 600Mhz is below the minimum. And when playing the game it was terrible and it looks worse than far cry!?

My question is, how come far cry was sweet on this laptop but when I stuck on joint ops it was balls up!?

Is there a way I can sort this out? Joint ops is unplayable on this laptop. Every other game including all the latest fps games run sweet on this laptop.

Basically it clocks the CPU down to 600MHz when it's not needed to extend the run time - Joint Ops is detecting the CPU speed at this low setting - it SHOULD be speeding back up to full whack as soon as the game starts running (unless it refuses to run flat out). Your power settings might be able to get the CPU to stick at full speed all the time (especially when connected to the mains).

Run a CPU intensive program (Prime95), then run the Joint Ops setup while that is running.

Once it's detected the settings, you can close the CPU intensive program.

How much memory do I let prime95 use on the daily memory availble bit?

Just do the torture test (if you didn't select the "Just stress testing option" then nuke the ini file and run it again)

Tried plugging it into the mains and retesting ?
I know some laptops auto throttle as soon as they go on battery power.

Yep and Pentium M based laptops have been designed to ensure amazingly long battery lifetimes, so the CPU and GPU are clocked way lower when not needed, perhaps the game in question does not know how to use/run with this new technology.
