Advice on probable PSU or Mobo issue
Evening Hexites,
I’m having a problem in that my main comp (as per left) is refusing to POST (I think) or boot (definitely).
When powered on, all LEDs on the motherboard illuminate fine, the HDDs spin up and the DVD/Blu-Ray drive opens, but with the exception of the PSU no fans spin and nothing comes up on the monitor at all.
Earlier in the week it was intermittently crashing in the manner it would during power cut and I noticed that the graphics cards refused to go much over 50% GPU utilisation.
This makes me suspect the PSU but it could equally be the motherboard.
So far I have tried:
Reseating and memtesting the RAM
Clear CMOS
Removing all peripheral
Through dusting
Tried a different power socket
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions!
Re: Advice on probable PSU or Mobo issue
You mention that the problem is with your main pc, could you try your other pcs (unless it's a laptop, of course) using just one gpu and one hdd to see if it posts, it certainly sounds like it's the psu at fault.
If you cannot do the above, here is a page (http://www.corsair.com/blog/Testing-...-power-supply/) explaining how to test your psu with minimal load.

It is unfortunately a laptop, but I will investigate the PSU testing page
