    New laptop.

    Hi guys.

My dad needs a laptop. He has looked at Dell ones, but i was wondering/hoping you guys can do better?

So for about £600 +- £100 what can he expect to get?

    Cheers.
    Will.

An AMD Athlon XP-M is your best bet at that price range, though if you could stretch to £800+, then an Intel Centrino (aka Pentium M) would even better.

The better makes are Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, and Sony, in my opinion. (Some of these don't sell Athlon XP-M based machines)

    I'd recommend this one: http://www.planetmicro.co.uk/product...ource=dealtime

    Or this one:
    http://www.shopacer.co.uk/shopdata/f...50.shopscript#

They both have good processors, and 512Mb RAM, as well as CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives, and decent size screens. They both have USB2.0, and Firewire, and 40Gb and 30Gb hard drives respectively.

I think the Asus is a better deal; your Dad could even play some games on the Asus one!
