    Athlon XP - Dead?

Is the Athlon XP series of CPUS dead??

I havent herd anything about a new CPU for it.. umm... well ... since the release of the 3200+ and that was the first and ONLY 200 FSB cpu (unless you count all of the 2500+'s)

So am I correct in saying that the XP's life is over?

They won't be releasing any new numbers but they will be migrating to socket 939 at some point.
Whether this means they move to a single core production like thoroughbred/duron I don't know but will be interesting.

There is actually a 200fsb 3000+, it runs at 2.1GHz.

The K7 core will continue in production for some time, but it'll be renamed Sempron later this year. I don't know if they'll be Tbreds or Bartons though.

As far as I can see there's no easy way of making a K7 core work on a Socket 754 or 939 board, just as there's probably no easy way of making a hammer work on Socket A. So, it's not so hard to figure out that All Sempr0ns Will Not Be Alike.
