    Exclamation Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

can someone please help me, i've looked everywhere for help, but no luck.

i have a Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L mobo and i believe it has a problem with dual-channel memory because whenever i put both sticks of my 2x1GB G.SKILL 1066 in slots 1 and 3, itll work for awhile, then crash and reboot itself in a loop. sltos 2 and 4 dont make a difference. BIOS is at latest F8. CPU is e8400 3ghz.

i've read up on many people having this same issue, and i have not found a solution as of yet. right now i only have 1 stick in slot 1 and its the only way to get this thing stable.

right now, i have it set at auto timings 5-5-5-15, and dram manual at 2.1v ...all factory set at what it should be at. MCH i think is at 1.2v or 1.3v ..cant remember, supposed to make ram stable or something, didnt really do much though in dual-channel mode..

if anyone has a CLUE at what i could do to make this ram work with this somewhat buggy motherboard, please reply! thank you!!

    Re: Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

Stock settings for DDR2 is 1.8v, however most high end ram needs more, 2.0v to 2.2v is the common range.

Just a quick check you've not done something silly like set the memory to 533(1066)mhz then overclocked your FSB to overclock the cpu?
If so then you're pushing the memory faster than it's stock speeds and maybe past it's limits.

Also set the timeings manually to thoes which the memory is rated at, sometimes auto setting can get the numbers wrong.

    Re: Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

this memory is factory set at 2.1v, so i have it at that.

the mobo (since i updated it) correctly found my timings 5-5-5-15 so i left it at auto, unlike bios F4 which i had to do manually

nothing is being overclocked right now... :/

Thanks! nice to meet you, and thanks for helping me

    Re: Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

Odd, you could try underclocking the ram to 400(800)mhz and see if it's stable there.
    Or even 333mhz (a 1:1, cpu:memory ratio)

Sorry I cannot be much more help, these boards are still very new.

    Re: Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

I got the exact same problem with my Gigabyte P35 DQ6.

Freezes/Bluescreen in Dual channel mode and works perfectly fine in Single channel !

I decided to accept it and have been running slots 1 and 2 for a few months now. 1+3 or 2+4 are just a no go!

If you do find a solution, please post it!

    Re: Problem with Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L

i have tried underclocking even to speeds of 667mhz and still no luck. (this was on slots 1+4 btw..)

i've noticed though, windows will NOT boot (instant bsod) if you Manually set dram to 2.1v, leaving it on Auto will at least get me into windows and be able to do.. just about nothing.

while i was in windows though, i was able to at least run Prime95 and memtest. memtest ran for 8+ hours or so, and no errors found. it was funny how fast it crashed on Prime95 though... i'd click to start it and *bam, crash...

surprisingly, with one stick of ram in, and a small o.c. to 3.2ghz and ram locked at 1068, Prime95 runs perfect.

man i cant wait until gigabyte releases F9 bios.. (if they do)
