Re: laptop cpu upgrade possible ?
Hopefully someone will correct me. But I have a feeling laptop CPU's are soldered in are they not? And maybe locked in the bios?
I may be wrong though!!

just opened and it is just like that :)
Re: laptop cpu upgrade possible ?
I would upgrade the bios to the latest so that it can support the latest cpus for that chipset. Then you would probably be better going to an acer specific forum. ( According to a thread over at Acer guy website you can go with a core 2 duo with 667Mhz FSB, check this out though.)

Just remember too watch out for a few things after the upgrade like heat build with the new cpu. Noise might be louder if the system's trying to keep it cool.
Re: laptop cpu upgrade possible ?
Laptops are often BIOS, chipset and power restricted, you'll have to do some digging about that model of laptop as to what cpu it can take, just because a cpu is the same socket and will fit doesn't mean it'll work.
replacing the cpu can be easy or hard, depends on the laptop, removing the cpu and fitting a new one is easy, getting to it can be very complex, some laptops it's easy, on others you will have to strip it right down.
