    AMD 3200 and Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0

I have a abit nf7-s rev 2.0 and think i might treat myself to a amd 3200xp + 400fsb but is this compatible with the NF7-S?

It is yes but please please please get a 2400+ mobile instead as it will go far further than a 3200+ and will do the same speed at a lower voltage should you not wish to overclock.
All that for about half the price

Ah i didnt know that last time i overclocked my 2800xp+ and windows was freezing and i had really bad experiances with it, but maybe if i get a 2400-m it may be better. Will it be better than my current 2500xp+ (stock) cpu

A mobile Barton will be absolutely guaranteed to reach 3200+ speeds.
    Thats 2.2Gig. I haven't heard of a mobile Barton that won't reach 2.4Gig(Mine reaches 2.6)
Also it is preferable to the standard 3200 as it will probably reach those speeds at a lower voltage which comes in useful if you have a crappy power supply

The reason a mobile is better is that it's certified to run at a lower voltage than a desktop CPU(1.45 as opposed to 1.65V)
The mobile will however be able to take the same voltages as the desktop. This consequently gives you much more headroom for overclocking

Looking at your system the only problem with getting 400FSB might be if you have dodgy RAM. Unlikely seeing as it is Twinmos

    will work fine mate

My 2500+ used to run as a 3200+ but now I've got it going a little faster thanks to the Abits lovely clockability, just get some nice memory for the dual channel and then watch as the system screams away

Should be fine. I've had 2.4 out of a desktop Barton with an Aero7 lite.
The mobile should run cooler at the same speed because of the lower voltage.
The most popular setup here seems to be NF7 & Mobile 2500/2400+ so you'll be in good company

Remember that your mobile may not be as good as the desktop version, but for that you's have to be very unlucky. Most, however, will be very sweet chips - mine does 2.4 at ~1.725v, but ive heard of one done 2.6 at the same voltage which is sweet .

That was my inital plan that is why i was asking if my Abit NF7-S would support a 3200 chip as i was gonna get a chip not retail tho but oem and use my aero 7+. Will my aero 7+ be ok on a 3200 or will i need something else.

If iam going to get a mobile chip which iam Highly considering i would need some advice on overclocking if that is ok as iam not really sure on how to go about it.
