    Thinkpad USB Keyboard

Hi, I love the keyboard on my Thinkpad, and have been considering buying a USB one on and off for years now but have never managed to convince myself to get one!

So, does anyone here have one and was it worth it?

    Ta!

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

What are you after - the trackpoint or the low travel keys or ? I have a PS2 version of the spacesaver 2 keyboard. It's good but I'm more used to laptop style keys / travel these days.

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

    Me again!

This is the one I want - Lenovo ThinkPad UltraNav Keyboard - http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/r...oard-20090325/ ideally the UK-GB version of it.

I've tried looking for the GB one specifically, but haven't had much luck! Anyone know if such a thing exists?

    Ta

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

Must admit I've not seen those before.

if all you want is laptop scissor action keys then there's load of them out there eg http://www.scan.co.uk/products/keyso...-and-flat-keys

It's if you want the trackpad and/or stick then it becomes trickier

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

Cheers Pob, does "laptop scissor action keys" mean, the lower profile buttons with the thinkpad "feel" to them? If so, this is what I am after, and a hell of a lot cheaper (not too fussed about the other options)

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

Yes, it means Laptop style keys.

If you're thinking of the Thinkpad specifically rather than laptop in general, then it may not feel quite the same (might be slightly stiffer, softer or spongier)

pop into pcworld or similar just to see what you think of that sort of keyboard.

The other thing I'd look at is the ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGHGHHHHGGH!!!!!!!! sorry I'm bashing my head here trying to remember what they are called, it's the thing apple mac use, it's still a scissor action keyboard, just that the cap of each key has folded edges and a gap between each key, which gives better key separation and help stop crumbs and stuff getting in under the keys
these ones are quite nice http://pcperipherals.saitek.com/prod/slimkey.html

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

You need to search for compact keyboards if you want a laptop feel one, I think scan do a few.

    Re: Thinkpad USB Keyboard

I bought the keyboard Pob linked to and while it doesn't feel quite as sturdy and responsive as the thinkpad keyboard, it is certainly good enough for the money, so thank you

Word of warning though to anyone else, the num, caps and scroll lock LED's are those horrible piercing blue ones, it's not great constantly seeing that out of the corner of your eye!
