    Qtecs are fine!

Every one disses them, but for a low end system that doesn't require stable volt lines etc they're ok.

I've had 2 QTecs and 2 Hipers, and teh Qtecs have been better than the expensive ones.

no there not ok. There acctuall performance, can, be adequate, sometimes - however they lack safety features which is why so many reports of them taking mobos and stuff with them, aswell as fire...

scan have some good low end cwt's that iirc are also cheap.

It's not just cheapo PSUs which go pop though . I had an Antec 430W PSU which failed on me after about 6 months. It was working fine and one day I turned my PC on and nothing even though it had been working fine the day before. Swapped it for another PSU and the PC sprung into life so it had definitely gone. I guess I was just unlucky with that PSU as my other Antec PSUs have been very good.

yup but the quality of that PSU stopped it from killing your system and thats why you pay more for it

the Qtec has no feature to stop this so if it goes pop get prepared to pay out for a new system also
