Speaker interference

Ok, since I moved house I've been getting inteference from my powerline networking kit over my speakers. Whenever I use the internet, a screeching noise comes over the speakers, particularly the powered one.

I've tried moving the cables around and trying to increase the distance from the speakers to the powerline port but to no avail. Even if I unplug the stereo jack from the back of the PC, you still get the noise.


Anyone got any more bright ideas on how I can reduce/eliminate this interference?

Presumably it's from EM radiation rather than the actual power supply? In other words, a surge protector or something wouldn't make a difference?

I've noticed with mobile phone interference that the quality of the speakers makes a big difference. I have a set of £20 Logitech speakers and a set of £60 Creative speakers that weigh a heck of a lot more. The Logitechs start squealing at every opportunity whilst the Creative ones have never made any kind of unexpected noise.

Sadly it's a set of £60 Creative speakers that are making the noise

The powerline kit is plugged into the wall directly, and it must be EM interference as it happens even without the speakers directly attached to the PC, as long as they're powered
