    Living Room SFF suggestions

I'm looking to get a SFF for my living room to handle DVDs, divx, mp3 ... but also ideally

    TV capture / timeshifting
    gaming (but nothing too intense)

However - it will have to be QUIET ... and be easy on the eyes.

The Nehemiah 10000 looks ok - especially the tranquil and the hush PC though I'd have to get a capture/video card ... the downside being almost nil-expandability.

Looking at the shuttle's - what are people's experience of silencing these? If it's easy enough I'd maybe be tempted for one of those.

    Suggestions appreciated ...

Shuttle's are noisy and look kinda nasty imo. The hush pc's do have 1 full height pci slot so you could get a all-in-wonder radeon card like this one which should do want you want.

Or you could do want i'm doing and make your own custom case based around a Nehemiah

I'd say rather the opposite. Compared to any PC Shuttles are quiet and if you change the system fan you'll get an ultra quiet system. If you want to go beyond regular DVD viewing ect the shuttle is the best option. However one of Kustoms VE ATI cards and an EPIA M10000 would be a rather attractive option.

I've only heard one model Shuttle IRL - SS51 and it was way too noisy even with the temp fan option on in the bios, this all may be fixable with mods but I would say the hush is your best route IMO.

You under estimate me, we all have our contacts you know. Your right no one does know anything about it and I've seen no news site report anything on it but I hope to beable to get myself a look at one - who knows.

I assume we're talking here about the M7000 Nehemia (spelling?) with passive cooling?

Nope - myself and Nigel were actually talking about two complete different things both of which you will never have come across.
