    SN45G ide issues

    Hi

Just got a shuttle SN45G today and everything seemed fine until I tried to burn a DVD. Nero keeps giving me an error saying "Power Calibration Failed"

    Specs of it are:

    Athlon XP 1700
    Single 512mb stick of ram
    Radeon 9800 pro
    2 seagate barracuda drives

If its because there is a lack of power, wouldn't the PC switch off?

So if it isn't that, what is it ?

DVD Burning is still only just coming out of its infancy. Incompats are still not rare esp between diff brands of discs. It could be that your 2 HDs are drawing too much power though it should be okay. Plus 9800 though better than FX5900 is still a hungry beast too. Try unplugging a HD and ideally a lower end gfx card just to see. Do a search and check there aren't known issues with the Pioneer 105 ... I'm a LiteOn and NEC man myself.

BTW as you no doubt know, you're losing about 5% of your perf by using only 1 stick as 2 are needed to enable Dual Channel mode. I assume you are simply planning to add another 512MB stick at some future point.
