They are meant to be pretty darn good overclockers. I would have thought it would get 2.4ghz. I think pretty much any mobile chip is capable of going a hell of a long way with a voltage increase to non-mobile volts.

XPM-1500's are supposed ot be pretty awesome clockers, so i assume 1600's are.

1500 seem to be all out of stock...1600 are cheap enough tho...

just wondered if it was worth spending more dough on a 2500 Barton when I a Thorobred was fine before.

Are these M chips missing anything? Cache or SSE Instructions or similar

phoned CPUCity yesterday and the 1500+ chips aren't coming back so you'll have to get the 1600+ if anything

The non-barton XP-M chips are obviously missing the extra cache that the xp2500-m would have. I dont believe they are missing anything else, apart from the temperature . It will be similar to the XP1700. If you are building a budget PC i would say go for the 1600xp-m, else there would be a performance increase with the barton(xp2500-m).

I'm doing 2.4ghz with a 1500M which has a core speed of 1333mhz, so an overclock of over 1ghz. If the 1600Ms are anything like save the £30 over a 2500M and get one. Might be best asking on the CPUCity forums about results with the 1600Ms.

It's doing 2.4 @1.75v (closer to 1.72 tho) fans on full so below 40c. Didn't really intend to go any higher as its only supposed to be in the kids machine but might give it another blast later on for fun. I'll leave it testing with prime95 and see how it goes.
