Shuttle - graphics card fan noise!

I've got an SB75G2 and while some people talk about decreasing the noise of the system fan, it doesn't really bother me TBH. The real problem I have is my Sparkle FX5900XT, which is easily louder than the Shuttle's standard fan. Surprisingly, it's louder with the cover on, though temperatures are better with the cover on, so I make to with the noise. Has anyone got any suggestion as to how to quieten the graphics card's fan, one that will fit in a Shuttle?

Also, has anyone else experienced this or is is just me?

    And that helps me because...?

Does your 9600xt stick out at the back, so that fitting a PCI card would be difficult?

Generally speaking no, but it would be nice. I've already used it to test an Adaptec SCSI host controller in (with a 15K SCSI drive). Right now I can't think of any other use for it, but you never know...

Your problem being that you own an nVidia FX.

Have you considered trying silent cooling alternatives on the GPU of the card? I suppose you may want to underclock it if you are doing that, just so it doesn't run too hot.

Other than that, how about watercooling? Silent and it looks damned cool.

I'd be interested to know how hot the GPU gets, but I don't think there's any way of determining that. If I could find out, I'd even try unplugging the fan to see if it'll run OK. I don't intend to overclock (or underclock), I just want the damned thing quiet. You should've seen the 4x15Krpm SCSI system I gave up for this Shuttle, and it's still making too much noise...

I got a ATI 9800Pro in my sb75g2 and it soooooooo loud so I am on a hunt for a solution to the noise- might fit a 60mm fan to the mesh and see how that does

I have exactly the same problem with my SB65G2 and Asus Radeon 9600XT. I´ve swapped the PSU for a SilentX 250W and a panaflo 80mm (top fan btw) thinking I was on the way to quietness, but found the graphics card is making the noise :/

Ive got the same problem, recently got me a SN41G, 120Gb 8mbcache maxtor, standard exhaust fan and PSU, Rad9800pro, and the gfx fan is driving me up the freaking wall.

Anybody know of a decent solution for this?

Is it just me or does every1 have the same problem but no1 has a real solution?

Anyways, the best thing I've found is My new Evercool 'Twinkling' VGA cooler which is 3pin so goes on the mobo headers and at full speed it is SO loud but with SpeedFan I've put it down to 1% and it runs like a whisper. Not exactly sure what the temperature is but i tried touching the metal of the heatsink (which is solid copper) and it was cold to the touch, so i took that to be a good sign.

My problem now is making my S3 quieter. At the moment it has to be on at 100% to keep the CPU under 50. I had it in push-pull with another S3 and was quiet and fantastic but i cudnt work out how to fix the damn thing on.

I'm still soldiering on with a Ti4200 - not exactly cutting edge but it's silent after I ripped off the noisy fan and stuck a passive Zalman cooler on it

I fear for my sanity when I upgrade to an X800 later this year as there's no way I'll be passively cooling that

well, Ive solved my solution, rather easily, and cheaply.

Stealth vantec 80mm, havnt had chance to cut the grill yet. And, Ill be getting a SilentX PSU asap. And, a Vantec Iceberq. Not the best choices, but, its made my system a lot quieter.

The main object of noise making is the PSU now, with HDD in at a close second.
