Ahah the funny thing is this new naming thing is gonna show how bloody slow celerons are compared to P4's.

P4 Celerons are sooo slow especially for maths

Yup, after years of slating AMD for having a naming convention Intel go do the same thing, ahhh there so great

Anyone else remember when then went from Sockets to Slots stating that the socket format was dead as were any companys that stuck with it good old Intel

nah celerons suck even more !

i remember having a 700 celeron and my mates 600 p3 ran circles round it, and when the p4 socket came in they got worse, a lot worse :\

my mates got a 2ghz celeron and really my old p3, 800 seems to runa helluva lot better :s

Interesting seems the new celeron is far far less crap than the old one! Thats good!

Ive got a P4 Celeron 1700 and a P4 Celeron 2400 here and they are both dire.

The new Cellys are a big improvement. They still suffer from ultralongpipelineitis like the Prescott P4 but the 12K (vs 8K) L1 data cache and 256K (vs 128K) L2 cache mean it doesn't suffer nearly as many pipeline stalls as the Northwood based Celly.

It has SSE3 too (dunno if any programs make use of that yet) and a 133MHz FSB. The 325 is under £50- couple it with an Abit VT7 (or similar) and clock it up as close to 200FSB as you can get and you'd have a pretty decent video encoding rig for the money.
