Ivybridge Upgrade?

Afternoon,

I've been thinking about a possible upgrade path for a while now (rig in signature/ left), I have an idea of what I want to do but I think I need a sanity/reality check really.

Motherboard/ CPU: i5 3570k(retail)+appropriate mATX board with USB 3.0 (~£250?)
Ram: 8Gb DDR3 1800Mhz (Corsair Vegeance I am thinking ~£55 from scan)
PSU: Corsair HX520 (got this, its in good nick and still going strong)
GPU: XFX Radeon HD6950 2Gb(Got!)
Case: Thermaltake Armor A30 ~£75
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home (got retail)
HDD: 500Gb (got)
Optional Extra: SSD (probably a 60-80Gb)


Obviously this cannot happen until April when the cpu is launched. I want to scale down a bit as my Antec 900 is massive and to be honest I never have had the need for all that space!

Opinions?

Now I know the 6950 is a big card but it should fit in the A30, it is designed to take "long cards"?

I'd sell off the excess bits to recoupe some of the cost as well, should get a few quid for the Q6600 and Ram.

Unless there is a change in IB that I am unaware of, or your going to be heavily using the IGP, save some money on RAM and buy the 1600MHz stuff instead.

It's anyones guess as to the price IB will release at.......

Cheers, just noticed that it supports upto 1600mhz dual channel on the info sheet now that you mention it.

Have to wait and see for prices as you say.
