    Should I overclock My PC?

    Ok, first I'd like to let you know how much I know about overclocking! NOTHING!

    Next, I seem to be board with my system... I need a car, I'm losseing my job, I spent 150 dollars on a wavemaster I'm not even useing and I am board to death!

    So.. I primarly use my PC for Surfing the internet and music! I do game on a daily basis... I have around $600 to speend on this computer, but I'm not shure were to devote it! Any Ideas? I'd like to overclock but it's fast already! I don't belive I'd notice a differance anyway... I'd like faster storage! Errrrr.. Mines realy fast anyway... Help! This thing already has a $5,000 dollar price tag, and I would like to improve it!

    PS. this post makes no sence what so ever!

    Definitely. You could probably get a fair bit more out of that RAM&CPU and i'm guessing you could turn your graphics card into an XT

    are you touching the voltage at all? Overclocks won't get very far without more juice.
    Side note - please don't hold me responsible if your computer dies and bear in mind I have never overclocked a P4 so don't take any notice of anything I say

    No voltage touch.... Is that why?

    Edit: In about 4-6 mounths I'll be getting a new mobo and cpu so it doesnt realy mater!

    Edit 2: Update! I locked the Ratio and set the fsb to 210, 840.. I got a PAGE Fault Error during boot! What ever that is.... I reboted and set it to 208! now I got Error missing file..... So I set it back and I'm good!

    Well I just watched a vidio review from 3D gameman! He took my mobo way beyond what I'm running it at! His ram is at 6350 MB/s! mines at 4800! Errrrr... His 2.6 P4 is at 3.4GHz! NOW I"M PISSED! I must be doing something wrong..

    Well if anyone would like to help me overclock this thing I'd love to hear from you! If not... Well, I'm off to fry some exspensive parts! Wish me luck!

    My chip is running at 1.550....iirc thats 0.05 volts higher than stock, and i have 600mhz extra. So i wouldnt say give it more juice. I dont like playing around with voltages so i let my asus mobo automatically select the right voltage ("auto" setting under vcore).

    Nudge it up slowly, 5-10 extra FSB per time, boot to windows, check temps, keep temp window open, prime95 it. my chip (now due to crap airflow) hits 60oC when its been priming for about 2 hours. P4's 'throttle' at 70oC, but my reccomendations are keep it around 50-60oC full load.

    Theres a lot of rumours P4's cant take much when you increase the voltage, so i'd say be careful. If its a northwood (which i presume it is) you should get a nice overclock.

    Maybe the problem lies with your ram. Try giving your RAM a bit more juice. Im assuming your AGP/PCI voltage/freq etc is locked?

    Hope this helps

    What are your RAM timings? Try slackening them off a bit.

    Also are you running the latest bios for the board?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    ram timings are 2.0 3 3 6, And yes I have the latest bios... But bios says my cpu is at 61 C! Cpu load has been constant for 24 hours at 55%

    All I tried to do was up the bus alitle and my raid acts up! What should I all touch in bios?

    Make sure you lock the AGP/PCI to 66/33 thats the most important thing and explains why you lose your raid array
