Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
This is the 6th version of the GTX560:

Seems,a strange move especially with the GK104 being released next month at supposedly £250. You would think that the previous generation cards would be getting massive price cuts soon.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
You have got to be kidding me...
Quote:
The GTX 560 SE will be at least the 6th member of the desktop GTX 560 family, following GTX 560 Ti, GTX 560, GTX 560 Ti (OEM), GTX 560 (OEM) and GTX 560 Ti 448 Core. Ironically, the GTX 560 SE has much more in common with the OEM GTX 555.
Why is that ironic? I would have gone with... stupidly.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
It will take at least another month or two for the GTX560SE to hit retail though. Supposedly the GK104 will be out by then and there is also the GK106 beneath it. With the rumoured £250 pricing for the top version of the 2 SKUs,what happens to the GTX550TI, GTX560,GTX560TI,GTX570 and GTX580 pricing??
Is the GK104 going to cost more than £250 or is availability going to be more limited for a while?? It seems funny timing to launch the GTX560SE now.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
Guessing that with all the money lost due to economy and HDD shortages, they are trying to squeeze every last penny out.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
Supposedly the main chap at Overclock 3D has said Kepler is going to be very expensive. I thought the big Kepler version was delayed?? So what has happened to the "cheap" GK104 unless Nvidia is releasing big Kepler first and medium Kepler after that(like they usually do with GPU releases). My brain hurts! :(
I just get the feeling we are not going to see much price movement in the sub £250 market for a while longer!! :(
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
I found the video:

Watch from minute 17.
He mentions Kepler is going to be expensive at launch. Bollocks!:censored:

Thanks, had the window open for too long so missed the reply :p Seems a very generic comment about the new cards (inc 7900 etc.) though rather than anything especially saucy - he doesn't mention Kepler for example. He's right of course - market price will be high no matter what the RRP is anyway.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
He does mention that he is under NDA,is reviewing a GTX570 and the new cards are going to be expensive, not are expensive as the HD7950 and HD7970 are already out. Since he is reviewing a single GPU card too,he is strongly hinting at Kepler.
So the question is whether big Kepler launching first or has Nvidia price adjusted the GK104??

Nope I think you're reading too much into it. Like jumping to the conclusion that nVidia are going to release the 'big kepler' first.
You can say something is going to be expensive without meaning it's an unreleased product. If I buy a 7970 it's going to be expensive, and it's a new card. And yes, there are more new cards coming that are going to be expensive too. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone - the new cards (from AMD and nVidia) are going to be expensive!

He says he signed an NDA. I didn't jump to any conclusion, but asked whether big Kepler was launching first or is medium Kepler price bumped. He is reviewing a £250 GTX570 BTW and all his comments are in relation to this.
His words basically:
"I know when the NDA is,I have signed the forms already", "knows when the new cards are coming","newer cards are coming","new cards are gonna be expensive","don't think you are gonna get any bargains with the new stuff, its gonna be for people with big wallets,or people who have robbed banks,or live off mommy or daddies trust fund, all that kind of stuff".
It means a card which has not been released yet and not a lower end card either(video was out yesterday).
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
i think cat you're right, he is hinting at the Nvidia cards really but we will never know until its released :D.
My gut feeling is that Kepler is delayed, why release a dead end chip if you have something to replace it in a month... makes you wonder if its been delayed a substantial amount to cause Nvidia to launch this.
Or, it could be that Nvidia has loads of chips left that are simply out of spec from either categories and instead of throwing a ninja move type thing (branding something worse as the same thing) then add in the new category to quickly sell them. This could point to the fact Nvdia is going to be releasing Kepler REALLY soon and so wants to just clear everything.
Hmmm, interesting!.

It could be that too. If we start seeing big discounts on the GTX570 and GTX580 like with the GTX470 and GTX480 then it would probably confirm this.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
The GTX 560ti has come down quite a bit recently. There is an OCed MSI version on scan for just £161. I'm sure that you couldn't get any for less than £175 a week or two ago.
Re: Nvidia releasing the GTX560SE
Holy crap, they seriously need to stop all of this, or come up with a broader way of marketing their cards.
6 Cards that share the 560 nomenclature only serves to confuse the hell out of the customer..
I suggest they move the lower end cards down to something like the 620, then work their way up from there, ending with the 690 (Dual-GPU).
