PC Sometimes Not Turning On After Standby

    Hey guys,
I have an issue where sometimes my computer wont turn on after a standby. Basically the keyboard doesnt illuminate/numslock etc dont respond, the monitor is blank (but a dvi signal is detected).. Through troubleshooting I found out that the only way (to my knowledge) to fix it was to remove the battery to clear the CMOS. Weirdly, fans still span when I took out the ram, hard drive, graphics and soundcard, which was weird because I thought it would just turn off.

Any ideas on how to stop this from happening? I've tried being patient, and an hour of it being "on" it still wasnt on, I'm not prepared to dismantle it and clear the cmos every time it decides to not turn on. Its a windows 7 system, and specs are E8400/Asus P5Qe (yes, its abit old ...)

    Thanks

To be brutally honest, I've never seen any windows machine 100% successfully return from standby.

Hibernation would be a better solution.

Same here. I told it never to enter standby in the power options.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

You can change the sleep mode in BIOS. See if there's an option to change the idle CPU mode from C3/6/7 to C1E. C3/6/7 are deep sleep modes, C1E is a less deep mode used for idling. They might be in separate bits of the BIOS, and you might be able to change them in windows power play controls as well.

Alternatively boosting southbridge voltages might help.
