    Omg I Fcuked Up

    guys , sh1t, i just bought a 40gb hdd on ebay, i didnt realise it was dma/ata, please tell me this is the same as ide, and will work with ide, please please please quuickly, or what will i need to make it useable?

    a 40gb hard disk should cost no more than 20 quid new, at current market prices.

    you may run into a problem on an old machine with a 32gb maximum hard disk size, there should be a jumper on the back of the drive to force it to only be 32gb

    then they're vastly overpriced, 50p a gb is standard, 120gb costs 50 quid

    Yeah but you cant just say that applies for every drive.
    Smaller capacity you pay higher amount per gig, and higher capacity less per gig (unless you are right at the top end, where it can go back up again). Its not just a falt rate everywhere, but I understand what your saying.

    valid poits all, but well se, another question lads, with this i bought a pci raid controller jobby, £12:50 all in, bargain, i had 1 40gb hdd at the min, wot should i do, should i go "raiding", and krap with the stripping i hear or wot? i head 2 40gb drives turn to an 80 or sumthin, is this right?
