TSMC stops 28NM production for a month??

This is not good for AMD or Nvidia:

Anyone know how long it takes to restore "clean room" status in a fab once it has been "contaminated"? It occurs to me that it could be the case that this was a relatively small fix, but the clean areas were contaminated during fix, or even that a contaminant got into the clean room from an unknown source and they've been working to identify that source and fix it.

Whatever the reason, if it's true it's going to be a major headache for a lot of processor companies...

Well, by the sound of the article, production is about to resume anyway......seems it happened 3 weeks ago.

Hope it's nothing major, it has the potential to be a major annoyance for Nvidia; AMD already have a ton of inventory and have cards shipping, but Nvidia might have to push back the hard release, giving AMD more of a headstart.

However, if Nvidia already have enough inventory, I don't imagine it would be terribly negative for either company as they're both in the same boat. Sure, it would cause supply problems for a short while but shouldn't cause any lasting damage. This is another reason I hope GloFo will do well...

Now to find the guy who farted in the clean room...
