for an AMD 64 3000+ as stock one is a bit loud. Need one that is effective but quiet(ie the holy grail). any ideas?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

it's the standard hsf and fan and I have no plans for overclocking at the moment.

I have just installed the Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu on my P4 running at 3.5GHz. At just under 2000 rpm the fan is silent. The temps are a good 5 degrees lower than the stock Intel unit also. Seems that this does fit the A64, but you'll have to check your mobo for compatibilty: http://www.zalman.co.kr/
