    Question Ratios 1:1 and 5:4

    Hey all. I have a 3gig P4 (800)fsb

and an abit ic7 max 3 motherboard with 1gb (2x512mb) Corsair pc4000 Pro memory.

Now i have tryed to get my fsb to 250 in 1:1 ratio but i canty do it lol. I have a watercooler but with the hot weather lately it aint helping.

Now what id liek to knwo is can i get my memory to run at 250mhz without trying to get to 250fsb?

Will i lsoe performance not using 1:1 ratio?

And can someone explain 5:4? As im not quite sure how it works

    And other suggestions are welcome.

    Thanx alot guys

The dividers are meant for the other way ie. 5:4 means cpu:RAM ie if your cpu is @ 250 then RAM is at 200.
I don't know about your board but it is not possible to run RAM at a higher frequency than the chip on my board (DFi LP pro875B) I would assume its the same on the IC7.

As for losing performance, I noticed little change in performance when I went from 5:4 to 1:1, however I was running bh5 (5,2,2,2) when I was using 5:4 dividers, and am now using much looser timings (7,4,4,2.5) 1:1 - damn Geil RAM can't do any tighter timings
