Is the fan auto adjusting then? cos you cant really 7v an auto adjusting fan i think it b0rks it?

but if not to 7v a fan you just need to plug its ground wire into the 5v line of the molex:

High no its not auto adjusting I read about that before so I steered clear, I have a vantec fan controller to control speed, excellent links thanks for this IM going to have a go tonight !!

There was an article tho that also described somebody taking the fan apart and putting oil? in it something like that which noticeably reduced the noise of the fan...

    *starts sweating*

thats good, they're quality. (says because just bought one himself)

shouldnt be any need to fiddle with wires then - just plug em in and off you go?.....

I have a couple of those fans laying about. Think one of them is wired for 7v, quiter but not silent. I ended up putting cold cathodes in the front of my case, Managed to fit full lenght ones between the plastic front and the metal case, might swap them for 4" ones at some point. I also fitted filter mesh to keep the dust out.
