    Please explain Memory timings

    Hi overclocker Gurus!

These things are referred in many posts in this forum, so I ask:

What does 2.5-3-3-7 mean? What is Vdimm? What other settings affect, allow, or play any role in overclocking specifically, or system speed in general!

When do you increase and when do you decrease which settings and what do they mean? Please guide me! I have just bought a Barton 2800+ as an upgrade over my old AthlonXP 1700+. However my Gigabyte board has got plenty overclocking features (mem voltage, cpu voltage, 1 Mhz clock increase, etc) So right now I am first learning how so that I can start overclocking and making the from my CPU!

Or maybe there is an FAQ on this somewhere?

Brilliant guide to this, in my opinion, can be found over at http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair...707/index.html
Nice little Flash presentation that explains everything you'd want to know about RAM. And then a bit more.

Woah, never expected this kind of response.

Steve, you can always click the little speaker icon to mute it, and then the "Slide Notes" checkbox. Though the text is a little small on this 14" screen.
