ive heard 2400mhz with a good oc, but possibly more if u go up to 1.9v, ud need good cooling though
Under Development...
My guess
2600mhz @ 1.9v
2400mhz @ 1.75v
What's the prize?
My old XP1700+ needs 1.9V to stay stable at 2.1GHz so anything's an improvement... I'm hoping for more than 2400MHz but will be happy with it if that's all I can get. Burning in at 2400 / 1.75 at the mo. Looks like I'll have to wire wrap to get higher than 1.775V on my board though (but in usual Asus style that setting actually pushes 1.825V to the CPU)Originally Posted by mr_anderson187
A feeling of satisfaction? I'm hoping I can hit at least 2.5GHz once the AS5 has settled down (and hoping I can do it without wirewrapping the pins for more vcore too)...Originally Posted by ed^chigliak

lol, my 1700+ can reach 2.1ghz stable with 1.8voltage, on a krappy a7v8x-x mobo

Where did you purcahse the XP-M from? As im looking into getting one of these for my vapochill rig Ive just bought.
Cheers

malfunction what hsf u using.or what cooling.
cpucity.co.uk is good for the chips.
cm_uk drop the sig down a bit m8 before the mods come and get u
2400 or 2500 both are pretty much the same price, pros and cons?

I bought the CPU from cpucity.co.uk and am cooling it with a Zalman CNPS 7000A AlCu (with the fan at full RPMs and no speed controller connected - so about 2,600 RPM). It seems to be topping out at just under 2.5GHz at the mo - so I'll probably wire wrap the VID pins later to get a bit more juice into the CPU and a few more MHz out of it hopefully.
I have an XP1700+ sitting in a box somewhere that does 2.4GHz @ 1.725. I have a mobile now that does similar speeds at similar voltages so with the additional cache i'm running that, i would part with the XP1700+ for the right price though if anybodies interested, note this is just a show of interest not a definite sale, pm me to avoid flooding the thread.
As for the Pro's and Con's i would say there aren't any, get either CPU they'll both reach similar speeds at similar voltages.
The 2400s are 1.35V so you should get more out of one of those.Originally Posted by Scientist

I seem to be stuck around 2.4GHz... I've wrapped the pins to make the CPU 1.85V default (my motherboard supplies 1.9V at this setting) and it will boot into windows at 2.5GHz but bombs out soon after the CPU is placed under load... I'm going to leave it running Prime 95 @ 2400MHz / 1.9V and see if I can burn it in a bit.
My mobile 2500+ does 2.4ghz @ 1.6v, and 2.6ghz with 1.7v and has plenty more to go just haven't had the time currently to find my best speed/temperature choice so i'm currently running it at 2.4ghz at about 40c idle and 45c load.
Overall i'm well impressed with the chip and was definetly worth the cash.

I'm wondering if the mobo (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) or PSU (CWT 450W) are holding me back - my XP1700+ was below average and so is my XP-M 2400+...
I do have some wobble on the vcore under full load and Asus only use 2 phase power circuitry (as opposed to abit for example that use 3 phase IIRC). Though AFAIK Asus' official line on that is that you don't need 3 phase unless you use lower quality components... I'm wondering if one (or both!) is what's holding me back but it's probably just luck of the draw. If I had cash to burn though believe me when I say I'd have swapped the asus out for the abit by now (and upgraded to a 550W CWT PSU with separate rails for 3.3, 5 and 12V)
If I manange to sell the XP1700+ to someone with a different set-up and they manage to get more out of it I guess I'll have a pretty good idea that something's wrong with my stuff!
