    Killing LEDs...

Argh, I hate LEDs. There's nothing worse than sitting down to watch a DVD on your PC, turning off the lights then spending the next 10 minutes running round the room with insulating tape covering up all the stupid little blnking lights on VCRs, TVs, power sockets, mice, computers...

So... without doing anything too drastic and possibly invalidating the warranty on my shuttle (SN45G) how can I get rid of the power led on the front? I've covered it with tape but it still glows the whole facia really bright, and I've also peeked inside to see whether I could simply remove the LED but at first glance it seems to be part of a small PCB incorporating the power/reset and HDD LED.

    Any ideas?

at the end of the day it still goes via the motherboard headers, i suppose you could just put a switich inline with it.

Some electrical tape stuck over them would work and wouldn't invalidate the warrant either.

Guess I should strip the front panel down and try that then...

Despite the shuttle being billed as a cool, descrete box I seem to spend half my time trying to make it quieter and less 'lighthouse like'

Erm, can't you just unplug the LED from the board? Or am I being thick and forgetting that Shuttles just use one ribbon cable for front connections.

They use one ribbon but I've converted mine over to individual headers.

Doesn't the manual tell you which LED is which on the single connector?

If it does .... then cut one of the cables to it inside the case and reconnect it with some electrical tape when you want it back on.

    Otherwise just cry
